The Exotica sub-group of ACCAW was established in December 2023 to examine the position regarding the keeping of exotic pets in Ireland and associated animal welfare issues. The The sub-group is comprised of representatives from the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA), Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), Veterinary Ireland (VI) and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Ireland (APDT) as well as a private Veterinary Practitioner specialising in exotic pets.
